Background

Andrew Gardner is a research engineer in the Visual Computing Laboratory at Linköping University.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2001.  Before joining the Visual Computing Laboratory, he worked at the University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies, focusing on High Dynamic Range Imaging, Image Based Lighting, and custom Material Scanning and Lighting Hardware design.  He holds a patent on a reflectometry apparatus he co-developed at the Institute.  He then spent seven years in the visual effects industry working as a technical director, matchmover, and software engineer for Tweak Films, and later as a research developer for Tippett Studio where he co-developed their primary fur and hair system that has been used in numerous major motion pictures.
